A new proof of the signature formula for surface bundles

چکیده

Let E → X be an oriented surface bundle over a closed surface. Then the signature sign(E) is determined by the first Chern class of the flat vector bundle Γ associated to the monodromy homomorphism χ :π1(X)→ Sp2h(Z) of E, it is equal to −4〈c1(Γ ), [X]〉. The aim of this paper is to give an algebro-topological proof of this formula, i.e., one that does not use the Atiyah–Singer index theorem.  2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

Zero-pole Interpolation for Matrix Meromorphic Functions on a Compact Riemann Surface and a Matrix Fay Trisecant Identity

This paper presents a new approach to constructing a meromorphic bundle map between flat vector bundles over a compact Riemann surface having a prescribed Weil divisor (i.e. having prescribed zeros and poles with directional as well as multiplicity information included in the vector case). This new formalism unifies the earlier approach of Ball-Clancey (in the setting of trivial bundles over an...

Convertible limited (multi-) verifier signature: new constructions and applications

A convertible limited (multi-) verifier signature (CL(M)VS) provides controlled verifiability and preserves the privacy of the signer. Furthermore, limited verifier(s) can designate the signature to a third party or convert it into a publicly verifiable signature upon necessity. In this proposal, we first present a generic construction of convertible limited verifier signature (CLVS) into which...

Cut-and-paste on Foliated Bundles

We discuss the behaviour of the signature index class of closed foliated bundles under the operation of cutting and pasting. Along the way we establish several index theoretic results: we define Atiyah-Patodi-Singer (≡ APS) index classes for Dirac-type operators on foliated bundles with boundary; we prove a relative index theorem for the difference of two APS-index classes associated to differe...

A new security proof for FMNV continuous non-malleable encoding scheme

A non-malleable code is a variant of an encoding scheme which is resilient to tampering attacks. The main idea behind non-malleable coding is that the adversary should not be able to obtain any valuable information about the message. Non-malleable codes are used in tamper-resilient cryptography and protecting memories against tampering attacks. Many different types of non-malleability have alre...
